Rano Kau Volcano
Looks like a rugged lifestyle but since the tribe was island-wide, maybe only the king and his retainers lived up here (or the priesthood). |
The houses went right to the edge of the crater. |
While there I used my tele-lens for a closer look at the bottom. Odd looking shapes. I can't figure this out.. |
I really wanted to see some petroglyphs and nearly missed them, they were so weathered away. At last some guy who works there pointed in direction of this house, the one right at the edge of the crater, and there they were - on the roof. |
Hard to make out, but at least one of them looks like what's on that poster in the main building - where the guys is chiseling. |
